DAY 3 – Creating a vision for the future

The challenge today is to describe what my perfect day would be like.

My perfect day begins with the brightening of the sky as the sun rises over the horizon. I see it out the window beside the bed and lay there watching the sun come up across the field outside my bedroom. My wife is snuggled up behind my back and I can just hear the stirring of my 2-year old son as he prepares to fight the urge of getting up out of bed.

The smell of coffee grabs my attention and I drop out of bed and head toward the shower. A nice hot shower and 20 minutes later I’m dressed in my sweats and sitting down at the kitchen table, drinking my coffee as I make out my to-do list for the day. My wife joins me a little while later, followed close behind by our son. Inhaling the aroma of eggs, bacon, and pancakes, we sit down and pray, giving thanks to God for the wonderful food and the day ahead. While we eat, we find things to laugh about as our son giggles right along with us.

After breakfast, we all go for a walk around the neighborhood. Then, after some Bible study time, my wife and son prepare to start their day of home-school, while I get dressed and head out to get some study time and absorb more information in preparation for writing later. A few hours of reading and study time, a few loving texts with the Mrs. followed by a good talk with some of my friends from church, then it’s time to head home for lunch. I spend the afternoon working on my latest chapter or blog, followed by a delicious dinner, another walk around the neighborhood, then sipping some sweet iced tea as my family and I entertain ourselves with a game of Wii dancing, reading or a little television before saying goodbye to the day.

Having never really thought out such a day, I find that the above feels incomplete – stunted even. I can envision so much more going on, and so many more experiences that are bound to fuel my creative side later on when I am writing. But then, maybe that’s the point. As Natalie mentioned in her video, the quote from Napoleon Hill states, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

Here’s to conceiving and believing!
